Council policy on sustainability

Bisley-with-Lypiatt Parish Council policy on sustainability

It is now generally acknowledged by the world’s scientists that human activity is having a disproportionately negative impact on our environment. We know that our society cannot rely for very much longer on an oil-fuelled economy. Living sustainably is not a new concept, but can be difficult in practice. A Parish Council is a key part of the local government system, and, as the authority in closest contact with people, needs to play its part supporting other authorities to improve all efforts to secure a sustainable future. The Parish Council has therefore agreed the following policy:

Bisley-with-Lypiatt Parish Council will encourage sustainability and sustainable lifestyles within the Parish. The Parish Council will consider the impact on the environment and climate change in all its work and decisions.

Applications to the Parish Council for financial support will require details of how the applicant organisation is achieving / working towards the sustainability agenda, where applicable.
