Following the changes to the mobile library service last year after the vehicle was no longer roadworthy, Gloucestershire Library Service is introducing community access points in selected locations from January 2020.
They will be hosted in village halls or other community spaces. A member of staff will deliver the service approximately once a month, bringing the books in a small delivery van. There will be a small range of books to browse and borrow and customers will also be able to return books and collect any items they have reserved. Eight locations have been identified with the following starting in January:
It is expected that a further four locations will be set up shortly after. These locations will be reviewed after a period of six months to ensure they are serving the needs of customers.
